I am the union of opposites

در عشق سلیمانی من همدم مرغانم

هم عشق پری دارم هم مرد پری خوانم

In devotion,  I breathe as the birds do

In their love of Solomon 

In love, I adore the magical creatures

For I call upon them as a magical person

هر کس که پری خوتر در شیشه کنم زودتر

برخوانم افسونش حراقه بجنبانم

The one with more magical traits 

I will catch first and save

And chant their special incantations

زین واقعه مدهوشم باهوشم و بیهوشم

هم ناطق و خاموشم هم لوح خموشانم

I'm mesmerized, by this incident

I have both gained sharp intellect , 

And have lost it too

I' m vocal and I'm speechless

I 'm the sacred tablet of the silent

فریاد که آن مریم رنگی دگر است این دم

I'm shouting out for that multicolored beloved 

Is no longer the same with me now

فریاد کز این حالت فریاد نمیدانم

I' shouting out for I know 

Nothing but this state of shouting out 

زان رنگ چه بیرنگم زان طره چو آونگم

زان شمع چو پروانه یا رب چه پریشانم

I am the beads on that beautiful Locke of hair

How colorless I seem in contrast to that color

I am a moth to that candleflame

How scattered and distraught I feel my Lord

گفتم که مها جانی امروز دگر سانی

گفتا که بر او منگر از دیده انسانم

Why are you different today

My moonlike beloved one?

Replied : don't look upon her

I see through human eyes

ای خواجه اگر مردی تشویش چه آوردی

کز آتش حرص تو پردود شود جانم

My friend if you are a true man

Then why do you bring shaky vacillation?

My being will be filled with smoke

From the fire of your greed

یا عاشق شیدا شو یا از بر ما واشو

در پرده میا با خود تا پرده نگردانم

O lover! Either transcend the relative

Or unravel yourself from our side!

Don't create a veil in yourself

So I don't have to create one 

هم خونم و هم شیرم هم طفلم و هم پیرم

هم چاکر و هم میرم هم اینم و هم آنم

I am both blood and I am milk

I am both old and I am an infant

I am both a servant and a Lord

I am both this and I am also that!

هم شمس شکرریزم هم خطه تبریزم

هم ساقی و هم مستم هم شهره و پنهانم

I am both the sweet nectar giving Shams

And the homeland of Tabriz

I am both the Winegiver, and the drunk

The popular one and the unmanifest!
